Month of Lovers,Presidents, I say Planners!!

February is usualy the month when most of the shows that I photograph will put their upcomming show season dates on the web. So I'm busy printing calanders off and show schedules off. Thanks to Deb at http://www.mainehorsecommunity.com/ for helping me out. Her calanders are always updated. What a great service she provides for Maine Horse People. I actually plan on showing at least once a month myself this summer. I have an amazing 5 year old quarterhorse that I just adore.
I bought him from Kevin &TheresaCrane, http://www.cranehorsefarm.com/ as a 2 year old and he just stole my heart the first time I rode him. He has to be the most athletic and sensative horse I have ever ridden. See you in the show ring : ]

Groundhog Day, yuck!

It's sad but I guess true. Winter is here for 6 more weeks. I'm truely not happy about this. I guess the good thing about this is it keeps mud season away from my driveway for 6 more weeks too. I haven't been taking any horse photos lately but, may be this weekend I'll get some. I'm hoping to take the afternoon and go shot for a couple of hours. I know the best time to shot is early morning, but with 2 small kids sometimes it just doesn't work out. Check back on Sunday and I'll have posted a few of my shots.

NHCTS Photo Contest

The results are in! One of the photos I entered in the trade show in Augusta won the Misc. Catagory. I won a $25.00 gift cerftificate from Katadin Trail and a bag of goodies from The Equine Journal. One item in the bag that I thought was kind of interesting was a chocolate bar made by Unbridled Chocolates out of N.H. Here is the image that won. I'm offering a special price on this print. 5x7 ~ $5.00 and 8x10 ~ $10.00 until Valentines Day.

I had an amazing summer last year. I met some great people and some really nice horses. I have a lot of exciting new things that will be happening this year. I've got a couple of date already planned out. I will be putting up a tentative schedule in the next few weeks. If you have a special event you'd like photographed please email me as soon as you have the dates. I would like to actually go to a few shows and show this year! WoW, that will be differernt. May be I can ride and take pictures at the same time, that would be interesting. Anyways, keep checking back for more information about the upcoming year. Its going to exciting!!

Some Favorites from 2008

I have taken over 30,000 image since April of this year. Not all of them have been keepers, but I have a few that I will have matted and framed and cherish forever.

Here I am...

Well, I've come to the realization that I have to some how get out there what is going on with this hobby/business I started back in the spring. I thought that since I stay home with my children full time that I need something to do for myself. My idea: start an equine photography business. I have been riding horses most of my life. I currently own 3 and its been my life long dream to have a career with horses some how. Well, it only took me 15 years to figure it out. I don't have any real formal photography education . I basically purchased a nice camera and let my eye decide what I shoot. I do your basic ring shots but my favorite are the artistic candids. Horses are my only passion besides my family and my relationship with Jesus. So to be able to capture their beauty and majesty is a dream come true. I know not everyone will enjoy my photographs, but I have enjoyed being able to take them. Please feel free to leave comments. Constructive critics are welcome anytime.
